We've probably overcome the battery charging issues from the past so a new iteration of the robo-dinosaur would do better, physically, but you're right we don't want robot companions because "something is missing" namely, humanity. Though it is a sad fact that in Japan, the lonely elderly are being given robots and even sadder, they are becoming emotionally attached to them. That is tragic.
