Those side lever clips were a very common office supply. And yeah those index cards LOL. Here's a real cheap very low tech (and somewhat embarrasing) way of capturing notes - get a box of 100 - or 500 - white envelopes (people used to mail stuff) 3 5/8" X 6 1/2" and when you need to write down a thought or make a list, grab one of those obsolete envelopes and have at it. :)
