Azure Blue
The sky is azure blue
Like twenty-four years ago
I thought, “Oh, what a beautiful morning.”
Like that delicate moment right before
The Plummet.
The sky is azure
Like a pulpy blueberry
You say, “What succulence, my favorite fruit.”
But later, a violent virus has you vomiting, and you think
“Never Again.”
The sky is
Cerulean, so perfect, clear
We peer through and know, “This Infinite is my home”
Then, social media reflects vitriolic disrespect from
Family. Friends.
The sky
Frames a flag flying
They forgot to take it down, half-mast or
They know the glass half-full allows devastation today
Drink resilience.
The
Article I won’t write
Is satire: “The Sky is Falling, Said Chicken Little”
A glance doesn’t give a clue — is it personal, about you?
That’s the trouble with my writer’s voice, it is never
Just me.
